Needed my LC to make a set of floppy disks, no problem...

Switched the LC and only five minutes later it turned itself off, no problem again, probably a PSU problem, but i have a spare.

swapped the PSU and the LC started ticking.....

Both PSUs had new caps a couple of months ago...

To cut a long story short, one of them had a bad Optocoupler, the other the connector on the board side was bad (several of the tiny clips inside the connector were broken)

Just had spare time to make the floppy disks....and both PSUs are working again...

Nope, its just the nature of vintage hardware. This shit is always gonna happen.

Usually when I get a tickling feeling to go play with vintage hardware, I get stung by it every time.

If I go and take a nostalgia trip on trying to do something, I run into several reasons why its a pain in the ass and why I shouldnt do it again...

its the 2+2=5 scenario. its 4, plus 1. 1 being the unknown figure factor playing it, such as... Murphy!
