Is this a IIsi/IIfx ROM SIMM; and why is my SE/30's Video ROM like this?!

Hi all,

First order of business, is this a IIsi/IIfx ROM SIMM? It seems like it has the potential to be one.

And second order of business. I noticed that my SE/30's Video ROM is a little different than most. Most don't have a paper label placed on top of the ROM chip, and most aren't an EPROM! That's right, underneath that paper label is a glass window for erasing the EPROM with a UV light. Thought it was a little different.

As always, here's a pic:

Here's my socketed board video ROM, which looks the same except for the -01 you have on yours. Only diff I see are the orange RP7/8/9.

Also attached: my non-socketed board has a video ROM without the sticker on it.

The ROM looks like my SE/30 ROM (4 chip), but I don't know what IIfx/IIsi look like.

When was your socketed SE/30 board manufactured, mine was made sometime around late January/early February, also what is the part number on it?

The Video ROM that you see on your soldered board is consistent with the vast majority of SE/30 boards I have seen.

Anybody got any thoughts on that ROM SIMM? It says its a "512K ROM SIMM" and the IIsi/IIfx has a 512K ROM (Unlike the IIx/IIcx/SE30 256K ROM).

The labeling on the ROM circuit boards is not dispositive, because many different sets of chips can be installed on the same model of circuit board. So, e.g., just because the circuit board says 512k doesn't mean it's a 512k ROM. The label on the circuit board means it's capable of taking chips with an aggregate capacity of 512KB (I think) but that's not necessarily the chips that are installed.

When identifying ROMs always focus on the part numbers on the ROM chips, themselves.
