install system software from zip to zip

Is it possible to mount disk images FROM a ZIP disk and install TO that same ZIP disk?

Take this scenario as what I am asking:

Load all of the system 7.1 or 6.0.8 disks to a ZIP. Mount all of the images and run the installer. Choose the same ZIP drive as the target.

Is that possible?

Yes, I've done the same with Mac OS install images on a hard disk - created a new system without any problems.
