Imac G5 LCD issues

I have a G5 1.9ghz I-sight, and of course, it has the dreaded lines in the LCD problem. also had the random shutdowns and no bootups. I cured that problem by reflowing the IBM chipset BGA and the video BGA. those problems gone, but the lines i believe is from a bad LCD.

the question here is, it is using an LM171W02-TT panel. as its the isight. everyone said you cannot use the version 1 and version 2 imac g5 LCDs in the version 3 at all. Is there a reason for that? why not?

Give me your serial number and I might be able to help with info on the LCD. By the way the easiest way to check if the line is in the display or not is to take a screen shot. If it's not in the screen shot, it's the panel.

I can look up EEE codes and see what other models had compatible LCDs.

yea i dont have the serial number or anything handy. All i have the LCD number, which is an LM171W02(tt)(a1)

its the imac g5 isight revC made in the W5 factory.

It took me "for-gosh-awful-ever" to finally get an OS load to boot. lol. involved destroying my optical drive in the process out of anger. so i gotta get a new one of those.

I have the DVD tiger disk, but it would NOT boot and had the prohibit sign. verbose mode revealed a "waiting for root device" loop over and over again. so something told me after hours and hours of screwing around, maybe that copy of tiger is 10.4.0 and not 10.4.2 so it don't have the proper IDE/SATA drivers for that G5.

So i tried ubuntu and it woudlnt boot either. got stuck at the releasing prom screen. everyone had this issue, and said use 8.04. so i downloaded 8.04 and it FINALLY booted into ubuntu, so i could actually USE the machine. and everything seemed to work, no freezes or video issues, just lines in the LCD. A new line popped up today too. it started flickering up and down, in and out of the screen before it finally set itself in. a new fresh pink line. hehe.

then I got a copy of leopard and it booted up. but its a scratched DVD so ill have to go out and try to get a new one somewhere....
