imac G4 700 "Lamp" CD works in OSX but not in 9.2.1

Any ideas?

I have an imac 700 here running 10.2.4. Everything works great except when I boot into 9.2.1 the CD isn't recognized. When in OS X I can go to "About This Mac" summary and see that it is there and recognized but I can't remember how to get a system summary in OS 9.

I prefer booting into OS 9 so if anyone knows what might the CD working in OS 9 please tell.

Thanks,

Randy

That model needs 9.2.2 with ROM revision 9.0.1, 9.2.1 won't work on it.

EDIT: Your post is a little vague; are you running 9.2.1 already or trying to install it?

CD rom can be replaced with any PC substitute, a bit tricky as most of the base should be emptied to get to it, and thermal paste should be used on re-assembly.

There's no 9.2.2 disc short of machine-specific installers. But the 9.2.2 update file is available to download on the internet fairly readily.

As for seeing a system summary in Mac OS 9, you'll want to open Apple System Profiler.  It's often in the Apple menu by default.

OK, it has 9.2.2. Apple System Profiler shows internal ATA 2, ID 1 is the DVD/CD-RW. When I hit the eject key on the keyboard nothing happens. But I figured out there is a "Eject Upper Drive" app in the "Applications (Mac OS 9)>Apple Extras>Eject Extras" folder that will do it. I assigned an F key to it. There is also a control strip module in there. It's all coming back to me now.

Now I just have to figure out how to set up my Airport Express as a bridge to my Cable router and I'm in business.
