I have compiled a list of my Macs, which you can see here:
http://www.d.umn.edu/~bold0070/spymac_mirror/projects/macs.html
My latest conquest actually cost something ($52 I think it was?). I almost always try to get stuff for free or cheaper than that but this was some good stuff. I'm actually trying to make a collection complete enough to be a museum exhibit. Here's that latest conquest:
PowerBook G3 Pismo:
New logic board on order, came with 2 good batteries & replaced yo-yo power adapter. Also removable DVD drive, weight-saving device, and original box & packaging.
PowerBook G3 Wallstreet:
Working, came with 1 good battery, 1 weak battery, & old, recalled power adapter. Also removable CD-ROM drive.
PowerBook 1400cs:
A little beat up, working, came with floppy drive and questionable battery, no power adapter. (But I can borrow one from one of my others.)
Classic II:
chipped corner, slightly yellowed, otherwise boots up fine.
IIci:
(I was talking about this in a different thread) Needed some new caps to bring back sound, floppy drive not working, otherwise fully-functional. All rubber feet intact.
LaserWriter Pro 600:
Dirty sensors caused paper jam error at startup. Cleaned and working like new!
Green Phosphor Apple II monitor:
Working fine.
IBM PS/2 Model 80:
Will not boot or beep. Unknown problem, but WHO CARES, it's pretty much completely useless anyway. Just nice to look at and hear the roaring gigantic hard drive. I used to have 2 of the PS/2 towers years ago, that's the reason I wanted that. I am almost strictly collecting Apple and Commodore.
Unfortunately, in the past when I was leaving home for college, I had many more computers that I had cleared out like a complete fool. They were illegally dumped in the garbage. Here's a few that come to mind that I lost:
Apple II
Apple II+
Black Bell & Howell Apple II (OH MY GOD)
Macintosh IIx (ugh)
Apple IIGS
Beige Apple IIe that was upgraded into a IIGS (good lord)
Platinum Apple IIe
2 Mac Plusses with trackballs, one with Radius Full-page display upgrade
Hard Disk 20 (the floppy port version)
3 Commodore 128s
Commodore Plus/4
Lots of commodore stuff, tape drives, disk drives, hundreds of disks
AppleColor High-Resolution RGB Monitor
Mac 400k external floppy drive
I'm sure more that aren't coming to me.
Wouldn't you know I kept all the POWER CABLES ... ... ...
BUT I have learned my lesson and I'm now trying to redeem myself whenever possible. These classics deserve to be collected and preserved indefinitely. Please tell me what you think of my collection and if you think it's any consolation to what I've done in the past.
