Hello all!

My name is Miel and I'm a Mac addict.

I go back a little with the Macintosh. I had my first taste in third grade with a Colour Classic II (Performa 275). I also remember when the first-generation iMac was introduced and how dearly I wanted a Tangerine.

As it happened, I never got the iMac; but I retained my curiosity until two summers ago when I finally bought myself a G3 iMac 500 "Kiva", (which by then was quite dated).

Then I quite surely "caught the bug" and became very interested in the history of Apple and its hardware development.

I now own three Macs: a First-Gen 700mhz eMac; the aforementioned G3 and now a 15" G4 Powerbook. I am also a Newton enthusiast: I have an MP 2100. I would love to have a gigantic collection of old hardware someday, when time and space permit.

I am also a bit of a music geek. I have two electric guitars and a growing vinyl collection.

So, I'd just like to say a big "hello" to everyone here in the barracks!

I am really looking forward to posting in the 68K Mac Liberation Army!

Best

Miel.

Firstly, welcome. :) Secondly, anything notable in your vinyl collection? I just started collecting last month!

Thank you, wackymacs!

To answer your question, I mostly specialise in collecting somewhat obscure punk rock records -- so I have a few gems in that regard (notably "Atomizer" by a Chicago band called Big Black); sometimes I find some other eclectic and cool things to snatch up as well.

I have a 1979 pressing of Devo's "Duty Now For the Future" that I hold dearly. I also have a very old copy of Pete Seeger's "Folk Songs of the World" and a Woody Guthrie record that is in wonderful shape.

It's great to hear from a fellow vinyl hunter. :) I just recently began collecting as well.

Welcome ... and had you (at the time) but realized its rarity, and also had a large paper bag with you, you perhaps might have been the only person in the Southern Hemisphere to own a CC II (other than the official owner, that is).

Awesome! Another Devo fan out there. Thought I was the only one. :D
Salute!

A shame, I know. We had entire computer labs full of these P275's (but mostly P250's), which I suppose must have been dumped in landfill when they became obsolete.

Are they really that rare? My word. I'm sure there's at least one soul in the Southern Hemisphere who owns one... right?

Colour Classic IIs are rare...I live in Australia too, and I've never seen one. Funnily enough, I remember back when I was a kid, I used to see standard CCs around the place all the time. Now you never see them at all.

And welcome! :) What part of Australia are you from?

I'm from Melbourne.

Yes, CC's seem to be getting scarce; I mostly see Mac Pluses and Classic II's laying around.
