IIgs lost it's floppy

I've been doing some work with my IIgs recently. It had been working well as I went through the rpocess of getting it to network boot off of a Mac II running Appleshare File Server 2. No issues.

I went to run Mousepaint on it today so I flipped the slot configuration in the boot-time control panel to boot from the smart port first. When it rebooted, it wouldn't even check the floppy. No access. It instantly went to "Check Startup Device". The floppy is getting power as it will eject disks with no issues. I tried different drives, checked the drives on my brother's IIgs, tried it daisy chained and single. Nothing changed it. There is simply no attempt at starting the disk read on the drive at boot and it's not recognized when I network boot.

Any ideas?

Is slot 5 (assuming you're talking about a 3.5" disk) set to Smart Port as opposed to Your Card?

Right. I even told it to set everything to default. The only different thing about the ROM 1 board is that I took the PRAM battery off. But it was off when the floppy did work.

It's starting to sound hardware failure-ish. Any reason to believe it's a recent development? Was it plugged in while powered on or anything?

I can't rule that out as I didn't screw the connector tight while I was working with it. In troubleshooting, I did remove the logic board and resolder the 15-pin connector. So I'm positive that's all good.
