iDevice Conquests.

Conquered a few devices lately. Vintage iDevices.

Up first, my friend threw his old iPhone 2G at me. 8GB. Screen is in good condition, won't go past iOS 3.x.x so it will stay unless I decide to Jail Break it.

The other thing is my mom gave me her old iPod Mini (6GB MicroDrive). I am not sure what I am going to do with it. I will probably just use it when I excercise, or when I head to my anime convention coming up (Nebraskon) in case the device gets stolen so it won't be a huge loss.

The iPhone shows it's age, but mostly it will play music in my VW Beetle since I got the appropriate audio adapter to plug it into my newly installed Radio. It holds about 3/4ths of my music collection, but it will be fine.

I thought I would pull the Microdrive from the Mini, but decided it wasn't worth it when I tested the performance. It seems SD cards are faster. It will stay in the mini I guess.

Also non-Apple conquests:

Got my Dell Zino HD back, my dad upgraded. Not sure what I will do with it,

I also got a bunch of other hardware, including a European Harmon Kardon massive audio receiver. It can't tune to US radio frequencies, so I am going to sell it. I also have a 110v (US) to 220v step-up adapter that allows it to work on US outlets. If anyone wants to buy it, and pay shipping, give me an offer. Not thinking more than $50 for the receiver + shipping costs. Contact me if you want it. It's not a digital Surround receiver, but can output video (composite) as well as 4 channels of speakers plus a subwoofer.

Hey, that original iPhone is a perfectly serviceable phone, certainly better than any free feature phone out there. My wife just stopped using hers a month ago because she dropped it and cracked the screen. We "upgraded" her to a 3G, and I'll sell the phone, because much as I love it's design, I can't be bothered to fix the screen on a phone I'm not going to use. I use a 3GS; we're unlocked on T-Mobile so we're stuck at Edge speeds anyway.

Nice score! I recently bought a 2G iPhone from eBay for $70 to add to my collection. Did he have the original box?

yes. he has the original box. You want to buy?

He didn't have the cable, but he had the original power adapter. luckily it was the corrected version (non rectangular plug metal, it was the angled version at the ends that was corrected).

I had to source a cable for the iPhone and iPod mini. I also had to buy a $4 audio extender since none of my audio devices fit into that recessed audio port.

It works pretty good. Especially as an MP3 player. I pulled the AT&T SIM Card, but it complains there is no SIM Card, if it has the SIM card, it complains no carrier contact.

Either way, works nice. I can browse the web as a WiFi device.

The battery is on the shotty-end, needing to be replaced. I might replace it, might not. I have to charge my Android phone every day due to crappy power management on the Droid Charge 4G LTE (Verizon, I have it rooted/replaced OS, gives better battery, but it's still a power guzzler)

The Mini has an older battery, probably no more than 15 cycles, but it's still older.

Will see what needs to be done later.

Oh yeah, I also got a customer that threw a Toshiba Pentium M at me with 512MB PC-2700 and a DVD-+RW DL and 15" LCD.

She spilled wine into it and decided she didn't want it fixed. There is no WiFi no ability to add internal, but I set about doing something I did with an iBook G4.

I pulled it apart, and washed it. They keyboard didn't fair too well (most keys work, not all) but washing the board fixed it. Not sure what I will do. Need to replace the keyboard at minimum. The rest works. I pulled the CPU/RAM/etc from the laptop, and threw the board in warm purified/distilled water with a little dish soap and scrubbed it. Then wiped the RAM and dried it for a week.

I powered it up last night after putting it back together. Laptop booted right up. Everything works now. Gonna wipe the drive and reinstall XP Home on it. Not sure what else I will do. I am completely swamped with working computers, I need to sell and see what i can get, even if it's very little money. I will probably post, but I am looking to trade to hopefully gift my friend a replacement PS3. His wife just lost her job due to a disability with her hands that has gotten bad, and his PS3 just died the GPU/CPU related deaths. At this point, for christmas, I would like to come up with a Used, even if the slim model, for them to be able to kick back on those frustrating days and game a bit.

I will see what I can trade for, but if anyone sees something they want to trade, contact me. I don't care for controllers/games, just the base system. Don't worry about drive either. If it's older and the blu ray drive doesn't work, I can replace that with a swap-in.

No thanks. :) Nice finds though! I had to buy a used box off of eBay. Extra $10 included the original paperwork, a box, original headphones (brand new, older style with no volume control), and the old style iPod power brick brand new (looks like iPad power adapter, but is not 10W). Bought the dock separate and through in a sync cable and I have a whole unit! Can't test it since no one I know has an AT&T Sim Card.

Nice. You should hold on to them instead of being so quick to get rid of them. You have the beginnings of a wonderful collection. iDevices are one of my favorite things to collect. Including my iPhones and iPads that are all in active service (and not on the shelf), I think I'm up to 21 devices.

I still really want a cherry iPhone 1. I always preferred its design to the later iPhone 3GS and then the sharp 4/5.

Woah, you have a PowerCD? Nice.
