ibook g4 battery not seeing full battery capacity

Hi all.
 

I bought a new battery for my iBook G4 and although on the battery it shows 5200mAh OS X is only seeing 4222 (with a cycle count of 4). 

Same with coconut battery.  It registers the original battery capacity at 4400mAh, with a maximum capacity of 4222.

any ideas?

Hmm, I’m not sure what the answer to that is, but how has battery life been? Also, what version of Coconut Battery are you using? I haven’t been able to find a place to download one that is compatible with Tiger.

An iBook battery that is sold "new" these days is going to be new old stock. If your's had 4 cycles and you didn't use it, it almost certainly wasn't new old stock, either.

However that may be, the cells have deteriorated, and you don't have a 5200mAh battery. 

Ah the joys of old laptop batteries!
