iBook G4 1.33Ghz

Client never came to pick it up. It's been 3 months. Mine now!

1.33Ghz, 12" LCD, Radeon 9550 (corrected from 9200) w/ CoreImage and QuartzExtreme. came with 512MB RAM, and a dead HDD (lady wouldn't pay for the data to be recovered) so I threw in a 40GB HDD. I also threw in a 256MB DDR-333Mhz DIMM to bump it up 768.

I have called her 5x over the last 3 months, but it's clear she isn't interested in paying more, nor picking it up. Mainly, because she never gets back to me, nor answers the calls.

Anyways, It's mine!

My dad has had his eye on it, as a replacement to his Pentium III 933Mhz Dell machine. My dad has become interested in the Mac systems after my mom got her iMac DV back in 2004 (yes, it was used) and she now has a core2duo white iMac. Anyways, when my dad found out I decided to keep the iBook, he has offered me money for it. At least how much this lady had owed me for the data recovery I did. I will still keep the dead HDD, but she never got back to me, so she loses

Very nice. I hope it works well after the work you put in to install the HD.

I recently got a iBook G4 1.07ghz however the screen is shot and the case looks like crap. There is a vertical line and its wavy which is annoying. If I have some time, I am going to try and put the LCD from a G3 in it, see if it works.

I still don't think you can call it "100% yours", even after three months of trying to contact the lady. There is still a slim chance that this lady will want to claim the iBook back. It's never truly "yours" until you get a verbal or written go-ahead. Nor should you ever sell it, based on the way you obtained it. Unless you chase this up for once and for all chances are the lady will want it back, and get nasty out of the blue.

To make it clear, I'd send her a letter clearly explaining that since you haven't heard from her for some time, and that she hasn't paid, her iBook will be donated to a person in need (ie = you!!!). If you do not hear from her by a certain date you will carry through with this. I also don't know how you can sell it to your father when it was a freebie in the first place; come on, that's pretty tight thing to do between family

I am keeping it for a month, but good idea byrd. I will send a note as soon as I get home from work.

The amount I was going to sell it for was like $159 which would have paid for the time I put into it

Anyways, I told my dad I will hold onto it for another 30 days, if she doesn't claim after I send the letter, I will go ahead and sell it. If she wants to take it to court, I will take her. I shouldn't be stuck with someone else's machine for half a year

Yeah, good idea. You don't jut want to go claiming a computer unless she signed something saying if she was unresponsive it was yours.

There is a limit though to how long you can hold onto something for a client before you have a right to sell or dispose of it.
