iBook and a bonus!

Was bored at work, so I decided to browse on ebay to kill time. Ended up snagging these two: an Indigo iBook, and a Mint-in-box Apple TV/Video system! Pretty stoked to unbox and hook up the card unless you think it's a bad idea? If not, let me know and I'll post pics of the unboxing!

Nice. I may have to take it for a spin when I visit you. Yoink! no seriously, they are pretty cool machines. Hope you like it. Does the battery work at all on it?

Oh the TV video system, got a VCR? that's pretty much I think what it was designed for.

The battery in it suprisingly works well! I'm in the middle of conditioning it as we speak. Apparently since the iBook had OSX on it before I got it, it would refuse to charge. I threw OS 9 on it and now it's conditioning just fine.

As for the Apple TV/Video System, I actually plan on hooking up either a DVD player (since it came with both the TV Tuner AND an A/V input card) or my original NES to it to get some old-school Duck Hunt on with my jumbo AppleVision monitor. Unless it would be better to keep everything in box for value reasons. It's still factory sealed lol.

Nice grabs! Love the iBooks, I was lucky to grab a boxed one off my local Freecycle a month ago.

The AV card seems to be not too hard to find sealed, so I'd suggest just using it. It's a good upgrade for any 5xxx/6xxx system for sure.

Yeah I think I got a good deal on this iBook, my only complaint is that the Apple logo on the outside monitor case is missing its leaf, but other than that it's perfect!

Funny you mention a 6xxx... This card is officially going into my Power Macintosh 6500 (with Sonnet G3 upgrade) now thanks to your info. I did a quick search and you were right lol.

I don't know why but these are missing quite often on the Ibooks, and even the complete logo.

12 year old glue on so called "bullet proff" plastic. One good bounce and that thing shoots off like a spring and you can't find it. Saw it happen, kinda funny, glad it didn't hit me in the eye.

@Concorde1993: Nah, I found it for like $18 on ebay. Search for it, they have more of them available I think.

@TheMacGuy: Why yes, this is the same card setup that was in the Mac TV. Another thought that I had was taking my junked out LC 575 and turning it into a Mac TV with a little case modding lol. Not the original, but pretty damn close!

So hey, if I did want to post an unboxing thread, would I do it here since it was a Conquest, or would there be a better thread to do it in?

If you want to post an unboxing video, there's a thread in The Lounge dedicated to uploading your own Youtube videos. Keep in mind it's not mandatory that you post it there; I don't see why you can't keep the link here, as it's relevant to the thread.

Well it wouldn't be a video. It'd most likely be a string of pictures that I would post up. I might post a video of the card in use since I still have a DTV converter box for analog tuners, but the actual unboxing I'd probably just do pictures for.
