I think there is compatibility issue in seritek 1s2.

I really want to use sata ssd but I've tried this almost 2 months, still doesn't work.

And I tested and I found that every hard drive is working perfectly and smooth.

But ssd? I think that is the problem. I installed Samsung 860 EVO 256GB and Samsung OEM 128GB ssd, but os 9 or os x can't initialize these.

When I try to initialize in os 9? always freeze and there is always kernel panic in os x.

And I researched some information in other communities, some ssd work perfectly, but some don't.

I think if we really really want to use ssd in sata card, we have to choose really reeeeeaally great quality sata card.

I've bought 2 generic pre-patched 1s2 card and 1 originnal 1s2 card, these are all the same.

My last hope is rabbit hole card, but it is out of stock now.

I have used a Crucial and an older Samsung 840 SSD with a genuine Seritek 4 port and never had issues. Sure, the ACard SATA adapter is a bit more picky with not booting after a restart, but seems to work most of the time. This was especially the case with a ADATA SSD, but the Inland (Microcenter) SSD seems to be more reliable. I think it may has to do with the questionable quality of the generic SATA adapters.

Rabbit Hole one would have been a good one, but it sold out, although I managed to get another for the Power Mac 9600.

Another alternative is trying an Adaptec SATA card, which uses the same SATA controller as the Seritek, but you need to desolder one pin. Another member here got it to work.

I’d say it’s your choice of SSD with the incompatibility, choose the most basic simple device you can find, a Samsung 860 EVO isn’t that. Crucial/Intel non performance drives are good.

I've ordered adaptec one in ebay. I will try it. Thanks!

Maybe I chose wrong ssds, I will try other ssds! Thanks.
