I lost a PB 180 Motherboard yesterday

Hello, yesterday my PowerBook 180's motherboard died. Luckily I had a replacement 160/165/180 motherboard and the machine itself is running again. But the motherboard is dead. This is what happens: I plug the power in and turn the machine on; it emits the beginning of the startup chimes and then immediately turns off. If this were an amplifier or similar I'd think of a bad capacitor, but where should I start looking on that board? Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks! Have a great day, Karl

Right where the power supply plugs into the logic board there is one thing that blows up in the back side. Will have to take a picture and show you. But take a look and see. It is a little black rectangle. There are a few other things that it can possibly be too. Will do some research

Protection diode. Yes, it's a common failure point.

Hi, thank you. The diode you mentioned looks good to me. I cleaned the board thoroughly with compressed air and IPA - so far it boots up nicely. Maybe it was dirt somewhere? Odd.

Just general 100 series weirdness. You might find the issue comes back later on… or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
