Hello, I am getting an external scsi enclosiure, and I will be putting a hard drive in it. Can I use a scsi 80 pin to 50 pin adapter in it so I can use an old server drive? 50 pin drives are expensive.

No problem, check out this thread: Using Modern Hard Drives on Old Macs? Be sure to let us know how your project goes.

Fabricating a batch of new ZFP*** cases has been on my mind, given asking prices for the real deal from back in the day.

edit: just in case  .  .  .  so to speak:

***ZFP = Zero FootPrint case that brings a Compact Mac up to a height that's ergonomically correct and takes up Zero desktop real estate..

I'm the sheet metal guy, I wonder if someone would explore rapid prototyping the front bezel, with and without a half height 5.25' Bay opening? If it were up to me, it's probably be quarter inch plexi, beveled and back painted  .  .  .

.  .  .  maybe with a rainbow Banana 9000 logo! [:o)] ]'>

edit: resistance is futile  .  .  .

Ought to mention, using the proposed Banana 9000 ZFP HDD/CD box would alleviate the need for the revolutionary 1984 industrial design achievement, feets™ wern't copied by Apple as a feature of the Macintosh Design Language until several rears later.

What was the first Mac to sport the less utilitarian*** but more aesthetically pleasing Apple version of their feets™ implementation?

*** Banana Computer company announced an advanced (for the era) Robotics ambulatory feature, adding interactive viewing distance adjustments to the revolutionary, ergonomically correct features of height and angle of view adjustments for the Banana 9000 series. Sadly the project never made it off the drawing boards as Banana Computer met with a tragic, premature demise in 1985.

Meanwhile, back at the Banana Ranch: /sic/

Has anyone seen, or better yet dealt with any firm doing sheet metal packaging for the likes of Switch Boxes?

9.25"D x  9.75"W by approx. 2.25"H packaging for the likes of a rotary Parallel or Serial Port switchbox from back in the day would be just perfect for a low production run of ZFP enclosures. That leaves approximately .5" depth for a custom front bezel. All measurements and materials specs. taken for my APS ZFP 1GB (read HUGE!) HDD Case from way back in the day.
