How Do I Lubricate TiBook Hinges?

Hi,

The subject line pretty much says it all. I acquired this TiBook, and it has a mild case of the typical-for-that-model-over-tight-screen-hinges problem that I'd like to fix (either partially or completely).

Rest assured, everything's intact for now! I just want to do some "preventative maintenance" so it remains that way.

Thank you!

A number of manufacturers used to sell these kinds of kits. RadTech seems to still do so: http://www.radtech.us/Products/Glides.aspx

The basic idea is to take the titanium covers off the hinges and squirt in "decent lubricant." Don't use WD-40; it's a water displacer, not a lubricant. There are some midgrade oils that might suffice, but I'd go with the RadTech solution, since I've used it myself on a TiBook a number of years ago and it seemed to do well.

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into it.

From a brief gloss-over, it appears that RadTech also sells kits for MacBooks, MacBook Pros, iBooks and Aluminum PowerBooks, which is good to know.
