Help required - wires loose in power cable

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a Beige G3 tower and I put a spare Sonnet Encore G4 1GHz processor into it. It worked. I noticed that the limited space in the Beige G3 pushed the power cables over the fans, so I tried to push the power cable adapter out of the way to give the fans more room when the machine was shut. In doing so, 3 wires in the power cable adapter became dislodged. The fans still came on but I suddenly got no startup chime and no video display.



I'd like your opinion on what to do next. Is this an easy fix? Are these generic cables that could be ordered from China? Does anyone have a spare power cable adapter for a Sonnet Encore Zif that they'd sell me.

Look closely at here they go into the plug. I think most of them you just push in?

I tried that. It still wouldn't boot nor chime and the cables still didn't stay in long.

Looking closely at the photo, the wires are separated from the pins that are, presumably, still in the connector.

a ) You can either remove the pins from the connector and re-attach them to the wires.  The pins are usually held in with a small clip that can be disengaged, so that the pin can be pushed out.  Once out, you may be able to solder the wires to the pins, reset the clips and re-insert them into the connector.

b ) Alternately, you could remove a pin, along with its lead wire, from a similar, junk connector and solder the new wire to the old and insert the pin into the old connector.

I've done both and prefer 'b'.

you can pull the pins and resolder the wires, or if your really good, you can tin up and solder the wires with the pins still inside without giving too much heat and melting the connector.
