uniserver - If I could get on line, I would down load opean transport. I will boot the color classic and see if open transport is installed. I did install a 10 disk set called "Apple Internet Connect Kit". Maybe that installed Open Transport in my color classic???

Your post was very helpful. I am getting closer to getting my color classic on line.
Running 7.5.3, I do not have a Apple talk icon in the control panel, but I do have a Network icon. In it I can choose between "local talk built in" or "ethertalk". I changed my setting to "ethertalk". After a reboot, I did verify that the selection was saved correctly.
In my MacTCP icon in control panel, I have a choice between three things:
1) Ethertalk
2) Ethernet
3) PPP
I selected Ethernet. When I select the "More" button after my selection, I come to a screen with many settings. On the left, I can choose between:
1) Obtain Address Manually
2) Server
3) Dynamically
I have selected Dynamically. When I do this, it populates correctly the left hand side of that screen with the correct gateway IP address of 192.168.1.1
On the right hand side of the screen are many selections. The top part of the right hand screen says:
IP Address
Class (I can choose between A, B, and C) [if I choose C, the correct subnet mask IP address shown up under it]
1) Net= 12582912 and a check mark for Lock or not. It is not locked. I tried to type in a IP address in this box, but it would not take it.
2) Subnet = nothing in the box
3) Node = nothing in the box
*******************************************
Also on the right hand side of the screen, below the above it says:
Domain Name Server Info
Netscape 205.217.255.0
I have maybe 5 or 6 more boxes for domain name and server info, and they are all blank.
I have made selections, and rebooted to be sure my selection stay. I tried A, B, and C. No matter what I do, when I launch Netscape, I receive the same error message no matter which URL I type in. It says:
"Netscape in unable to locate server http://alck.apple.com. The server does not have a DNS entry. Check the server name and location (URL) and try again"
I can upgrade to 7.5.5 if need be. Maybe that has more ethernet support?
Thanks for the help. Can you see anything I am setting up incorrectly?
