Help for Power Mac G3 tower

I have purchased the latest and greatest G3 beige tower.(the 333MHz model). The seller sent the machine as untested without hard disk and ram modules. The machine powers up(I can hear the power supply) but does not chime the green light is off and I have no pics.Have to put ram modules to start normally. What do you guys suggest to do?

Put some RAM in it.  It won't startup without RAM modules.  PC66 or PC100 IIRC.  Also check the battery to make sure it is not a bomb.  I found a G3 tower a while back that had destroyed the battery holder from battery leakage.

Thanks!

Now I have to connect a hard disk. The machine does not have the ultra wide scsi card. How can I connect a hard disk?

It has IDE as well as narrow SCSI connectors on the logicboard.

IDE drive should be smaller than 128GB to avoid problems.

To save yourself boot issues, as Bolle noted make the test IDE hard disk < 128GB ... ensure it is jumpered to "master"

And *ideally*, you want to have a partition that is =< 8 GB located at the beginning of the drive, or else you may have problems booting (for OS 8.x/9.x, this is somewhat less important, but it's a must if you want to run early OS X on it).

Some good photos of the motherboard would help. There are some people here who may be able to tell if something on the motherboard needs replacing.

Does your G3 MT boot normally (aside from the weak startup chime)?

If so, how strong are the sounds from the Sounds control panel? Are they weak too? If so, maybe something is up with the speaker, if not, maybe the PRAM battery needs replacing.

Does the system remember the last date & time that was set on it or is it always 1956 at startup?

I can hear clear and strong sound from 9.2 Mac OS.Yes the Mac starts without battery from year 1956.I have to try again with a good pram battery.
