AFAIK, all Portables shipped with superdrives, so unless yours has been modified, it should handle 1.4MB floppies just fine.

Well, the portable won't boot. I know it has something to do with their notoriously weird "I won't boot without a charged battery" behavior -- but I have yet to find any real instructions online on how to get around it. Any ideas?

Also, freaking wow -- almost a week after I posted the wanted ad to Freecycle, I just got an offer for a 1400c.
