Good conquest today

A guy whom I bought my first 68k mac from almost a year a good sent me an email that he had some stuff I could pick up for free.

Needless to say I got on my moped with a very big back pack and went on my way.

The score:

a Macintosh SE: the hard drive seems to be borked and the floppy is dodgy. But the good thing: It has an PDS card. with a coax out and something that looks like an apple monitor connectorplug. It also has a switch marked NK en TK. I'm still house sitting for my parents so I have neither the correct screw driver to open it up nor a DD disk to try to boot it up. I do think it has the full four megs of ram since it takes it sweet time getting to the question mark.

Also I got a Umax UC630 maxcolor scanner. It is super heavy!

Other less cool bits of this conquest include an intern scsi CDrom from sony and a couple of floppy disks, four apple desktop bus II mice, two extend keyboards and a design keyboard

The PDS device is probably an ethernet card. The BNC plug would be for thinnet coaxial, while the thing that looks like an apple monitor port is for an AUI transceiver module. Wild guess is that it's an Asante MacCon+.

I opened up my SE it is indeed a Asante maccon. I have a few problems:

My original SE now with 4mb ram and a 160 mb HD is acting funny after I installed the Asante card in there. It give the start up bleep but then does instead of continuing to the happy mac it bleeps again and again... Only two times have I been able to get it two actually start up but then it was really slow and once in finder it has a fatal system error.I already reseated the ram, but that didn't help. Anybody got any other ideas?

The new SE seems to have another problem: It wasn't booting up (question mark) so I thought the hard drive would be broke. SO I prepped another scsi drive with system 6 on another SE and Installed it in there: Nothing happened. The I took the drive that came out of the SE and put it in my trusty 8200 and voila it shows in the finder! So i have two working drives and none will boot in the SE? What could be the problem for that ? IS it a hardware failure?
