Generic wireless ethernet bridges - anyone tried?

Hi,

I'm playing around with a SGI Octane and would also like to try my wifi connection on some ethernet equipped Macs using a generic wireless ethernet bridge.

They're pretty cheap, run off USB and all look like this:

... can anyone report on their success, and what Macs and OS liked working with them?

I happened yesterday to see people on the web recommending similar devices for older computers with ethernet but without wireless.  http://www.brutman.com/Wireless_for_Classics/Wireless_for_Classics.html

No Apple or Macintosh information, but it's a start.

While not quite the same as these generic bridges, I have had a lot of success using old Linksys routers flashed with DD-WRT as bridges. I personally use E1000s as they keep popping up for $1-$2 at thrift stores locally but just about anything that can run DD-WRT would work.
