Hello everyone. I'm a Mac user (iMac intel Core Duo at home and a MacBook Pro for work) But I have been thinking about getting a Apple Newton 2000 or 2100 for note taking at meetings I attend. One question I have is wouldn't it be easier to just type my notes on my MBP or is it quicker writing them on the Newton? I used to use a Cross Pad XP, until I switched to a Mac, but sold that on eBay when I found out there was no Mac software to transfer my notes.

Several years ago I got a newton 2100 for just that reason- taking notes and keeping a bit of a journal. Something that lasted about 5 minutes. I write much too small for "ink type" notes to be taken, and way too fast for the software to convert my handwriting, which allows me to write larger.

So, once I was writing big enough, in a legible enough handwriting, and had waited for the software to convert it, I was about 10 lines behind where I needed to be note-taking wise. I've also tried using my laptop, using something like word with the auto-outlining, which works nice, until I needed to draw a diagram or something similar.

When it comes down to it, I've found that a cheap legal pad and relatively comfortable pen beat out all digital alternatives.

Thanks for the info, I'm beginning to lean that way myself, except for the fact that I then take those handwritten notes and type them into my MBP. That is what I really loved about my CrossPad XP. I could write the notes, upload them to my Windows laptop, convert them into a Word.doc and be ready for the next meeting. I was hopeful the Newton would do the same. Is there any Mac compatible note taking pad on the market like the CrossPad XP?

you could run XP in vmware on your macbookpro, then transfer the notes off the pad into your virtual machine, then out of the virtual machine to OSX?

That's probably easiest if you want to both use the mac and crosspad.

I tried various ways using Parallels and it was just to cumbersome and that is why I sold the CrossPad XP. I kind of wish now I would have kept it.
