I am soon downsizing and want to get 20 machines or so out of the house in the next year or two, but couldn’t resist a free iMac G4, 800mhz, 17” that appeared locally this week. The imac’s System software installation was corrupt so that it wouldn’t boot (looped), but that was soon put right, as it came with the original X.2/9.2 install disks.
The trouble, of course, is now what to do with it.... FileMaker 9, maybe? Or games? It’ll run simple Ottomatic-type favourites from the ppc era just fine, will it not, with an nvidia 4mx in there? Would overheating be a concern?
