Long time, no see. Howdy folks!
Shortly after this post (and subsequent interconnect dongle acquisition from a fellow forum user) the Newton stopped powering on entirely, so it went into a box for the last three years (almost exactly to the day!!)
Fast forward to a few days ago, I finally pulled it apart for diagnosis and found the likely culprits. A blown crispy tantalum cap and a blown F1 fuse as a result of that.
Additionally several other of the tantalums read shorted, which is how tantalums fail.
I've purchased the following list of components to replace all the caps, the supercap, and the fuse. Wish me luck!

The band I was touring around with has been on hiatus since November '23 and recently had a reunion show. I do gig work in the music industry now too. My dream is still to utilize my Newton as my data companion the way it was intended: calendar, contacts, notes and synced with my PowerBook 1400cs.
