Byrd Moderator Staff member 68LC040 May 2, 2013 #3 Yes, it is a direct swap, but this assumes the SE's ROMs have been updated or it is a FDHD model. It will detect as 800K in a standard SE.

uniserver 68LC040 May 2, 2013 #4 yes it works, and its automatically backward compatible. i have an Apple 3.5" here 800 ---> 2mb aftermac was the one that motivated the project. I guess FDHD externals are slightly rare? http://aftermac.blogspot.com/ i know he did a post on the whole process somewhere, not sure if its on retromaccast. http://retromaccast.ning.com/profile/JasonMcCormack ah here it is http://retromaccast.ning.com/profiles/status/show?id=1672786%3AStatus%3A98720#comments Haha a guy like this, all Sportin his Mac Daddy shirt, doesn't play around! ahahah Last edited by a moderator: May 2, 2013

MinerAl 6502 May 2, 2013 #6 Does it really require plans? Just take it apart, replace the 800 with a 1.4 and put everything back. It's really that simple.

markyb86 68000 May 2, 2013 #7 LOL! well no, that part of it is just the first step in a plan. I think I am going to take the 1.44 out of the SE, put it in the external. Then I think in the future I want to buy one of Uniserver's SCA drive+adapters. I'm not real sure on how I want to go about it or actually do it though.
