Another possible solution is to see if you can either change the cable on, or build a connector for an HDI20 external floppy drive, and use one of those. They seem to go for $30 (USD) or less on eBay.
I'm running the internal header to a DB25 IDC socket, and then stuffing the internal drive into an external case with it's own DB25 IDC socket; that's for the actual project thread.
