Ethernet cards for SE/30

From my experience, (in the UK), they are quite scarce and one tends to only come up on eBay every couple of months. It is more common to find them installed in machines but then there is the issue of whether to rob a working SE/30 of it's card or just use it in that machine.
When the cards do come up by themselves they tend to sell for a moderately expensive price, (about the £20 mark from what I've seen), so it really depends if you think it is worth it. It might possibly be better to get an ethernet to SCSI adaptor such as an Asante EN/SC, since this could be used with the SE/30 and other Macs as well.

In the US they're somewhat rare, too.
Not 'XCEED Greyscale rare' or even 'IIsi ROM SIMM rare' but they are somewhat hard to find. I'd call them uncommon.
They go for a moderate price, usually around USD30. There's one or two eBay sellers who always have one listed for USD75 but I think that they're asking way too much.

I was asking about this card as I spotted SE/30 in nice condition for about 68 USD - maybe not the cheapest, but these machines are extremaly rare here in Poland ;-) But it doesn't have network card, hence my question :-/ I had a dream to make it my "kitchen" computer (I use now Classic for this purpose but it is too slow and 4MB of memory is too little for MS Office 4.2.1). Anyway I wanted to keep database with recipes there, do same financial calculations during breakfast and read mails during supper ;-) Is it worth getting then? ;-)

For the SCSI ethernet, if the driver appears as an ethernet driver the operating system will do the rest.

Vintage Mac sales are seasonal. I wouldn't try to sell anything of value in the northern hemisphere summer (ie now), and that would include an SE/30 ethernet card if I had a spare one.
MacMan's advice was wise: they do turn up on eBay in the EU from time to time, but mainly in the autumn/winter. At least one UK enthusiast had a small stock a couple of years ago, but he isn't actively selling at the moment.

With the exception of a BNC connector and the distinct lack of a mounting bracket, that EBAY auction is showing the same MacCon card my SE/30 has long used. Works great. I wouldn't pay the $55 BIN though. Not worth that. You'll find these cards on EBAY about once a week, so even if you fail to win this auction, it's not like you'll never seem them again or for a long time. They appear all the time. They are certainly NOT "rare." But then again, I find that very few things are "rare" on EBAY, despite what the sellers may claim.

They are quite hard to find ,however if you do an EU wide search you might get luckier. I got mine from Belgium for a fair price.
On the other side, you could also buy them from ebay US, although of course the posting might be a little pricey or too slow.
However, you can always use an SCSI to Ethernet adapter as it has already been mentioned. I have a couple, and I'd be willing to sell you one if you wish.
