Emac CRT takes a while to come on from cold

so my Emac likely did not like the harsh British weather it went through and whenever the system is powered on the CRT takes approximately a minute to 2 minutes to light up. it starts off dim and red and then comes up to full brightness and a very sharp image.

i blame the cold as it turns on perfectly fine in the heat. but is it a sign the mac is calling for help? i don't want the poor thing to fail on me like my imac G3 did.

any help or tips will be appreciated. thank you for looking!

Well, you said "any"... I can't help much with yours - though it does sound like a failing component, might be a cold solder joint? - probably not an economical repair unless you can do it yourself. I do have a very nice dual-booting eMac if you decide to replace. Whereabouts in the UK are you? I'm nr. Oxford. PM me if you want to discuss...

Realistically, eMacs need recapping if you want them to last a while, though it may not solve the issues you are having. They rely on a ton of electrolytic capacitors. Even back when they were fairly new, eMacs did fail - the one I had didn't last very long, I'm not sure what caused its early demise but I imagine it was related to the CRT or analog board/power supply.
