Capacitor goo tends to be colorless, you notice it because it turns copper traces and other metal green or because it attracts dust and looks wet. Rust colored stuff is mostly just rust.

On a whim, I decided to pop the Power Supply from my Elsie III conquest, into the original Elsie. Powered on the first time!

Now that I know it's the power supply, does anyone have an extra one they want to sell?

... Last time I checked, batteries are round. :lol:

That check must have been before the PB100 or PB500 series was released. Their batteries are both round and flat.
