Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I am running 10.8 on my main machine and 9.2.2 on a few older systems and am looking for a way to share files between them. Is there way to enable filesharing between them? I would rather not keep burning cds.
10.7 and beyond are completely incompatible with 9.2.2 AFP.
If you have a PCMCIA card slot, I would recommend a PCMCIA to SD or CF adaptor. If you can't read CF cards on your main machine then use SD or get one of those USB to multi-card readers.
All these are very inexpensive, and way, way better than Zip disks.
I use 2 methods, depending on the machine: FTP or USB floppy drive.
FTP works great. That's how I'm sharing files between my PM 5200 with 8.6 and my Mac Pro with 10.8. Get an old copy of Fetch for the old machine.
If you don't have Ethernet, then you can do what I do with my CC. I picked up a cheap $10 USB floppy drive. Since the CC reads 1.44s, it's not a problem sneaker netting files from my Mac Mini (running 10.5 for classic HFS) to the CC on 1.44 floppies.
