Duke Nukem 3D visual artifacts and Redneck Rampage crash

Hi.

Does anyone here know how to get rid of these? They're more likely to happen if the game resolution is set above 640x480. I tried running the games on different Mac OS (8.6 and 9.2.2), on Sheepshaver, with extensions off, with another videocard, installing available patches for them but nothing seemed to fix this. Any sugestions other than playing in 640x480? which looks ugly nowadays.

Both of those games use the BUILD engine which was completely software-based and used a lot of tricks to speed up drawing.

I think SheepShaver has a checkbox for graphics acceleration, try turning that off (or on if it's currently off).

You mentioned "on Sheepshaver" so I thought you were using only SheepShaver.

The artifacts occur on both SheepShaver and the B&W G3?

Sorry, I actually meant both on my G3 and Sheepshaver... I've only seen it happening on the 4th episode. And the crash in Redneck Rampage occurs right on the 2nd level of the 1st episode.

Sorry, I actually meant both on my G3 and Sheepshaver... I've only seen it happening on the 4th episode. And the crash in Redneck Rampage occurs right on the 2nd level of the 1st episode.

Multiple levels in the 4th episode or just one in particular?

The game wasn't perfect even patched up to v1.4 or whatever the last one was.

I've seen it happening on the 1st, post office and the secret level.
