Dual interface nubus card on two networks

This isn't a question or anything, just a scenario I dreamed up for fun.

Say you have a nubus ethernet card with both AUI and RJ-45 on it. Into the RJ45 jack you plug a straight through cable to a switch which also has a DHCP server on it with the network.. say... 192.168.1.X. To the AUI connector you add an AUI to RJ45 transeiver, and link that to another switch with another DHCP server on another network, say 192.168.2.X.

You boot the mac and set it to DHCP; which server does it get an address from? Or does it error out? Both ports are seen as one interface, so either one takes precedence or nothing happens.

Lately I've been filling myself with everything and anything networking related, seeing as I'm majoring in network technology at the community college, so unfortunately when I dream things up, this kinda stuff comes out.

You just have multiple connectors for one interface, you can only use one.

Right, but the question is which one would it get the address from!

Whichever one takes priority in the ROM of the card , or whichever junper it was set to (depends on the card).

In which case I'm betting AUI; most of these dual port cards' RJ45 ports were actually connected AUI - RJ45 adapters, on the card itself, so that people could use the more standard (at the time) AUI, or the newer RJ45.

Dollars to donuts it just flat out will not work.

The standard injunction in Apple's User's Manual for each of the later 60x PowerPCs with onboard AAUI and RJ-45 ports was that either could be used alone, but not both together. Add-in cards, with the exception of the Farallon(?) 2 x RJ-45 card, are not likely to better that.
