Downloaded Cubase

Do you have a way to transfer the disk image directly to the Classic? FTP? I'm guessing you'd have better luck if you made the floppy on the Mac rather than doing on the pc.

That question is already solved! :-)

So I ended up with a Cubase.sit file in the Macintosh Classic hard drive.

Now, if I unstuff it within the mac, then this

http://personales.ya.com/juanjavier_xxx/cubase_sit_unstuffed_on_mac.JPG

is what I get. A folder called Cubase, which contains just a Cubase2.5.1r3.img, two folders called Roland and Midi Manager and a file called «sans titre».

However if I expand the cubase.sit file within window$, I get an .img file which, if I transfer to a mac formatted floppy yields this

...which is the former .img file, but expanded.

However, note that as I told before, if I double-click in the Cubase 2.5 executable icon, this

appears. So, what should I do next?

I suppose that I should mount the Cubase2.5.1r3.img file but, how is that done?

mmm... i just opened in the Cubase2.5.1r3.img, it mounted on the desktop and opened a windows with Cubase app.

then i open it and just worked

and to answer your another question..

si, ni un problema ;)

This

shows exactly the same situation as your first image.

then i open it
**What*** do you open? The executable inside the cubase folder (called Cubase 2.5.1r3.img) or the one inside the cubase2.5.1r3.img folder, which is simply called «Cubase 2.5»? This latter one asks me for the original floppy.

However:

If it is the executable Cubase 2.5.1r3.img inside the Cubase (only) folder, then I have a more serious problem:

I have got a Macintosh Classic with 4 mb RAM and System 6.0.3 installed.

What is supposed mandatory to have installed? I see you have got a PowerBook 520 but, how many RAM and what system version have **you** got?

Te estoy agradecido. A partir de ahora te consultaré en privado, quizá sea más rápido. Saludos...

----This is already solved. I hacked a techique which allows me to move freely whatever I want from a Linux box to a Macintosh classic absolutely flawless... ;D ;D

Luddite: What machine have you got? How many ram? What system version are you runnig?

Kindly keep me informed.

I ran it on an LC 475 running 7.5.3 with 36 MB RAM. I've no idea what the sytem requirements are for Cubase, but I'd maybe try installing System 7 and see if that gets you anywhere.

Yes, Leosadvs' opinion seems to match that.

Chances are that with System 7 I should have be done... :-/ ...probably.

I misinformed my system version. It is not 6.0.3 but 6.0.7.

http://personales.ya.com/juanjavier_xxx/system_version.JPG

I have downloaded System 7.1, and I have got a System_7.1.sea.hqx file which is 10,6 mb in size. I haven't got either ethernet nor appletalk connection in my Classic, so everything must be done by means of 1,44 mb diskettes.

I will try to transfer this 10,6 mb System 7.1.sea.hqx to the mac using diskettes, but I have not figured out how to do it yet. Perhaps slicing with some sort of utility....I don't know.

This is going to get me mad, man... [xx(] ]'>

thanks a lot for your valuable help, Luddite

Thanks to the nice folks that posted all the good info in this thread, I was able to get Cubase running on an SE FDHD, 4MB, with a minimal System 7.5. I haven't had time yet to actually try it out, so I have no idea how well it runs yet. Amongst my gear is a Kawaii K11 that has a Mac serial interface built into it, so I don't need to worry about a midi interface. I've never had the opportunity to try a hookup like that before, so when time permits, I'll give it a go. I'd love to see if this'll run on System 6. I doubt it will, but if I can ever figure out how to get the cubase disk image to mount on System 6, I'll try it for kicks. System 7.5 on an SE is taxing.

p.s. how do I show an image directly inline here? The tag is either not working with flickr, or I'm doing something wrong
