Does anyone write software for 68k macs

There are a couple of discussions in the software and hacks threads. Most of the stuff is in C. Not bad for resurrecting a lost art.

There's a Mac version of that book... and you will need resource editor too - to make resources for the program like windows to print too.

If you want something specific to the Mac, look into HyperCard. It's not as powerful or as flexible as C, but some great masterpieces were developed with it over the years (the best examples being Cyan's old games). It is incredibly easy to learn, especially if you have a good resource (I highly recommend Danny Goodman's HyperCard reference), and while it may be limited, it's easy to pick up on. If you know even a little bit of HTML, it should come easily.

I have a MetroWerks 4 for 68k and MetroWerks 6 for PPC, with MacApp R13 and R15, respectively, compiling and working, I am trying to finish off the MacApp R13 with last MPW-GM&PR for 68k and PPC, with some patches from a WHILE!@go.  When I get my SCSI2SDs soon for my system I should be able to finish that off to complete my "68k/FAT/ppc IDE workbench"

Let me know if you want to get all into that, compiling on 68k can take a while at first but then moderate update compiles are ok.  Oh and you need 2 GB drives which get full, i.e. the SCSI2HD haha

It's fun tho.  I want to finish off with the A/UX MPW compiler which is the next "platform" to finish, that might be waaaaay tough tho, we'll see.

Laters...

Thanks everyone, i really want to try hypercard and make some useful things. I have done some C but a very long time ago so that might be for longer term projects

The Mac version of the Programming in C came with a copy of Semantic's Thin C with RedEdit. Its a stripped down version of Think C.

What was that site someone (from here I think?) set up as an introduction to 68k Mac programming?  I've been racking my brains trying to remember it since this thread began.

Yes thats great ;) i have a lot to learn, speaking to a c programmer friend of mine it looks like i'll need to write 2 programs 1 for my se/30 to run through the bridging computer which in turn will run another program on the modern machine which can access the more modern DLNA/UPNP protocols the stereo uses. This ive been told is due to my the se/30 not being able to Understand DLNA natively.

Thanks Bunsen, i spoke to guy on email he said its possible what i want to do but very ambitious so ill need to get much better at coding
