Does anyone have Baton Mail?

Seems all links I could find online are dead. I've just installed a heap of RAM in my SE/30, I'd really like to have some email running on there without a networked helper system.

For that matter, is Baton Mail the only client for 68k that has SSL and SMTP AUTH compatibility?

Even if it does do SSL, it likely won't support a new enough version or algorithms to connect. You could use Stunnel to decrypt on your local network, and another client - IIRC, Netscape and Outlook Express will do SMTP auth, maybe Mulberry and Mail Drop too? There's probably more...

I tried baton mail in the past and could not get it to work.

I ended up writing up my own solution that involves stunnel for encryption and postfix for the smtp authentication. I am now sending/receiving email in System 7.

This is actually included as part of my legacyweb project:

If you get a raspberry pi with raspbian installed, you can follow the directions and get email working on an older machine. There are some other web services but those are a work in progress and there will be more to come.

IPalindrome is right. Pretty much all openssl implementations made earlier than ten years ago will not work as the cipher suites are no longer secure. I thought Baton mail relied on a helper system anyways...

Is there a reason you don't want a helper (like a raspberry pi for example)?

Is there a way to configure stunnel to authenticate for a client that doesn’t support smtp authentication? Like Eudora?

Let me know if you still need assistance finding this. I have a copy in the sw share on vtools. It appears I have v0.9.7.8b.

You should be able to use Baton Mail in conjunction with Eudora.

Another possibility, if your ISP has this, is to use their send servers, but I don't know what that'll do to your headers at your recipient's end.

Will this work on a 680x0 machine? I’ve been looking forever for it but can’t find a version that will extract properly with StuffIt 4.0.1.

Right now it's not stuffed. ASIP6 as vtools is configured right now will binhex it in transit.

I have and mostly personally use stuffit 5 but I could grab stuffit 4 to use as well or update my settings to work with older versions.

Would be greatly appreciated! How would you share/send it?

I run a server with community repository shares on it - http://vtools.68kmla.org/ - PM me for an account! You'll have read only access to the software share and read/write access to the public share.

There's a patreon as well, which grants web space, a personal directory, and eventually no-SSL email service. (However, send authentication will be required, I would love to grant you an account if you're willing to generate documentation on setup, especially w/re Baton.)

The machine is currently on ASIP6 but I will probably move it to OS X Server 10.4 before enabling mail server.

Hey, I got your PM as well, I don't remember if this DNS name is still right. Try vtools.68kmla.org.
