Do you have external speakers on your color classic?

Hi...

I want to connect a speaker(s) to my Color Classic.  I have a pdf of the service manual but it did not tell me the name of the audio out plug on the logic board.  I know it is a mono out put.  The manual says it will support headphones or an amplifier.  So I am guessing I can't just find the correct plug for the jack and plug in a speaker?

Anyone running external sound on your color classic?  How did you set it up?  What is the proper name for the plug that goes into the jack on the logic board? I want to start by buying that. Maybe someone can post a link to the correct plug that I need.

Thanks!

I have some old headphones around here someplace.  All of mine were converted to mini plugs and then to USB.

My old headphones had what was called a "310" jack. on it.  Here is a drawing:

It is far to large to plug into the back of the color classic.

I tried sticking a RCA plug into it.  It fit, but but it was a bit loose and did not seem to fit correctly.  This connector is the kind you see on older TVs and stereo equipment:

Is this the one you are talking about, or something different?

Thanks for your help.

it should be the same as the mini jack on a phone, like the one removed from the last iPhone.  That mini jack is decades old all the way back to original tape players.  Its what replaced the headphone jack on old stereos (70's) that used huge plugs for headphones.  Look up apple design speakers as the mini jack will be exactly the same.

Same headphone jack on the iPods.
