Disk Copy v4.2 error codes? Anyone have a list?

From time to time I get a -84 error or a -2 error. I'd really like to know what here errors are. If it's just a bad disk, or a problem with the image.

Does anyone have a list of the error codes generated by Disk Copy v4.2?

Thanks

Hey, can't believe I posted that question over a year ago! Anyone ever find a list of what the error codes are? I regularly get a code -84. I usually toss the disk assuming it's bad floppy, but would love to know what that error code means in case it's a hardware thing.

Anyone?

Not 100% sure on this, but it's probably a standard Mac OS error code. Lists are here:

The second link indicates -84 means "track failed to verify". So I'm guessing it writes the track, then reads it to check that it wrote successfully, and reads back something different from what it wrote. My guess is that it means a bad disk, but if you're seeing a ton of them, maybe a bad drive?

I noticed -84 also means "firstDskErr", but it appears that's just an identifier they used to show the range of error numbers that apply to disks (-64 is lastDskErr) so I would ignore that one.

Can't locate what -2 means...it doesn't appear in any lists I can find.

Edit: Found a header file that indicates -2 means "invalid queue element" -- no idea on that one. It doesn't appear to specifically relate to disks.

Probably not a bad drive. It works 99% of the time. It's just that I inherited a rather large stack of about 300 floppies from my Dad and they're really hit or miss. They must have degraded being stored in the garage for tha past 20 years. It like every other disk throws an 84. All my other disks bought new in the box are fine.
