I picked up a 1.8Ghz Pentium 4(mobile) Compaq EVO N800c laptop a bit back (I am typing this on it) for free too. This is a nice machine, although you can tell it is a Pentium 4. i.e. when music changes in iTunes, it locks up for like 15 seconds. It's so annoying. I have only seen Pentium 4-based machines do that. P III's/II's/Core Systems never do that. That truly tells you that Pentium 4 systems suck eggs.
This came with a gig of ram, a dead DVD/CD-RW (replaced), New Battery, 1400x1050 screen (internal) 64MB Dedicated VRAM on a Radeon 7500 (internal AGP 8x) and a 60GB (replaced with 100GB). The only issues I have with it is that the plastic over the fan vent is cracked (using simple tape to hold it down) and that two keys refuse to go onto the keyboard. I could get a new keyboard, but I am a: too lazy, and b: too cheap.
But great score!
