Decent Philly Liberation from Craigslist

Craigslist- $30

I picked up:

- 1 NEC CDROM

- 2 x external scsi enclosures

- 2 x Mac SE 800k with 20meg internal

- 1 x Classic 2

- 1 Cx

- 1 Ci

- 1 IIgs

- 3 Extended Keyboards

- 1 ADB keyboard

- 1 MacPlus keyboard

Plus assorted ADB cables and a SCSI cable.

Not a bad haul, but these were basement machines so I don't yet know about the Maxwell situation.

I would have paid $30 for the classic2 and a ADB keyboard.

Bonus: talked him out of his Amiga 3000 for $45 (he also had a huge pile of Amiga stuff he was selling for $300). I've been looking for an A3000 for a few years- every sale on ebay they go to at least $300 or so.

Were any of them tested before you got them?

Just to point out a common misconception I have noticed on the forums people seem to call Maxell batteries Maxwell batteries...

Ah not tested before I bought, and it's mostly a bust. I'll post pictures in a bit, but for the most part these are going to just be practice machines for my soldering skills.

And noted on the Maxell.

CI - Maxell destruction. Massive massive destruction. It was sitting sideways so it was spread around.

CX - booted w/ no video, now after air-blowing out the PS won't boot. Caps? PS fan spins.

Classic2 - needs caps, no video no chime. Fan moves.

1 Se is fine, 4BM, 800k floppies

1 Se PS seems toast, won't boot.

The iiGS makes a chime and seems to work, I have no video for it.

1 external drive is good, the other may have bad PS.

Both the 20Meg Drives in the SE's are bad.

I haven't tested the CDROM yet.

On the plus side the A3000 seems ok. It boots. The video is flickering and so I'm cleaning that MB.

But this goes to show you want you can end up with when you get 'basement' classics.

CX - sounds like bad mobo caps. I am betting if you take a closer look at the PS fan its spinning very slowly. I have been down this road with a CX before, even recapped the power supply. It was not until I had the board recapped did it work fine again. And I will add that it did boot a few times when I first got it before it failed outright.

SE - toasted - I have all the parts you could need if interested.

Yeah, the CX fan spins. Time to try my own hand at some caps.  :b&w:

As for the SE, I'm not interested in fixing it- I have a good SE FDHD, and the other 800K works. this will be a practice machine to see if I can hack it back to life myself.

what is the best detergent to clean up that stuff off the MB? I tried some dishwashing detergent w/ distilled water, it didn't seem to do much. I applied with a toothbrush.
