Daystar 33Mhz Turbo 040 issues

Bibilit replaced all the caps on the SE/30 LB (except the axial ones I think), Uni refurbished the PSU. AB is untouched and starting to fail a little.

Turned out to the the Logic board caps.

But I don't think your problem here is caps. I think it's the ROM. If the Turbo has a v1.00 ROM in it, I'd say it will work again but with a new ROM.

Since off upgraded his Turbo 040 ROM, he probably kept the image file somewhere. You should PM him and ask him about it. He hasn't signed in since last november, but do not worry about that. I got the ROM image file for my SE/30 Pivot from papa_november today and I initially PM'ed him 6 months ago.  :p

PS: The firmware version of the Turbo 040 is really important here, mine wasn't able to boot at all until I've upgraded the ROM to 4.11 by swapping the removable EEPROM on the board. And from the looks of it, yours is at 2.x right now (2926 label).
You know what to look for. The ROM on your card is even older than his! No wander it can't boot 7.5.3!

If you want to get it sorta working right now, I'd recommend installing 7.0.1 (earliest software for 040 Mac). The Turbo 040 was probably released around that time too.

But if the ROM is corrupted, you'll definitely need to replace it.

Actually, one thing that makes the IIci different is that it has a 32-bit pure ROM.

Remember, this machine wasn't even listed on the Daystar manual and images, just the earlier IIcx, and as you note, probably expects 7.0.1. I am guessing then that my v1.0 (2434) ROMs in the turbo 040 is probably in 24bit mode or something, hence unable to boot.

So how does anyone have an eprom programmer which I can send to them my rom?

(Trag's uploaded rom 4.01 & 4.02 already somewhere, so we can source the file.)

Also for future reference, found this just now:

techknight has one but the PLCC32 section is Fk'ed up. So he probably can't help you with that one.

You're lucky though because you don't need to buy another one like I did to since all PLCC32 are EPROMs, not PROMs.
