Dating a motherboard

unity

68020
I looked around and found that some indicate when a motherboard was made, but I have not found a way to do it. I would assume it based on the motherboard serial as I don't see other marks on most. Anyone have clues on how to do this?

Datecodes of all the chips will approximate when it was assembled/manufactured.

However, your thread title is catching, because when I took a first glance I thought it meant something very different than what it is. LOL

LOL - Its been a long day and I could not think of another way to word it. :)

Well I was hoping to narrow it down to month, week, etc. based on the mobo serial. For example I have an original 128k mobo and the later 512k version. The 68000 on the 512 is an earlier produced processor. While I can average the dates, I suppose, its still not perfect. And I really don't know how many companies follow standard date coding. It seems like some don't. But I will have to look into it more.
