Connecting Macintosh serial to USB on PC with Munt

I would like to connect my Quadra 840AV to a PC that has Munt running, emulating the Roland MT32. I was wondering if I can put together a cable that connects the Mac's serial port to USB. Would I need some kind of TTL adapter like this one? Has anyone tried doing this?

No, not TTL, you'd want RS422 to RS232, then RS232 to USB.

Alternatively, get one of these :

I don't understand why there are hardly any on eBay and they're that price. They're only really useful for this, and can be replaced with a cable. A year or so ago there were loads on eBay and at prices down to £5.

Hopefully you can still find one somewhere.

Anyone got any idea why they've all vanished off eBay? @joshc?

Serial midi interfaces are a dime a dozen, maybe a cheap macman for the Mac and USB midi interface for the computer? For MT32 the UM-ONE MKII is rock solid.

No idea. Probably goes in waves. It certainly wasn't me. :D I only have one, and it was gifted to me.

A similar thing happened with AAUI adapters, there were loads and then there weren't many on eBay anymore.
