Complete boxed DOVE MacSnap 548S

So this is a conquest that's been very long in the making, but also just blind luck it happened at all. :)   I'm a nut for original packaging, especially if it has the original sales receipt or invoice, advertisement literature (always fun to read), etc.

A few years back I bought a Mac 512k on Craigslist for $50 as a donor machine, all I really wanted was the keyboard.  When I picked up the machine, turned out it had a SCSI port instead of a battery cover.

I cracked it open, and it turned out it had one of the best RAM upgrades for the 128K/512K, a DOVE MacSnap 548S.  It upgrades the RAM to 2MBs and includes a SCSI adapter.

Fast forward a couple years, and fellow member Reasons had an empty DOVE MacSnap box for a 548.  Sweet!  So snagged it.  It fit the main RAM upgrade, but not any of the other components that came with it.  Odd.  Maybe the upgrade came in two boxes?

Fast forward another year or so, and I just found this:

Yet another DOVE MacSnap box, different from mine, just happened to be for the 548, but with foam inserts that fit the ROM, SCSI board, and other doodads. I actually didn't have the ROM upgrade in mine, so this is a bonus.

In any event, it looks like I found the second box, and I now have a 100% complete and boxed DOVE MacSnap 548S kit. :D

Now I just need a working 512K to stick it in. :p

I still have a working 512K from that big haul in 2014, if you want it?

I fixed it up to sell, so it's in decent condition, though it's probably a bit dusty by now.

No thanks. Honestly, you should really sell it and give Jose his share of the money since he paid for everything.

I know.

Unfortunately, it seems my life has gotten in the way a bit (not to mention TWO super bad wildfire seasons).

I should try selling it. Maybe I'll post it somewhere and see what happens.

Here ya go.  The smaller square doesn't fit the SCSI adapter.  It's too small.  I wonder if it was for the Case cracker or maybe a Floppy disk I don't have, but the manual doesn't mention anything about software.

On second look, it's entirely possible this other box is just a later release of the same product with a fancier box.  I guess I'll find out.  Either way, I have my boxes covered. :p

I love how finding things like this can make your day. My wife looked at me like a freak when I was doing the happy dance after finally finding the pen/pencil set for my TAM.

I'm not a "complete-ist" by any means when it comes to my collection, but sometimes you just want that one right piece, and it's great when you finally find it!
