Compact Macs

Earlier this week, a very generous college professor of mine came to my apartment and dropped off a Mac 512k and a Mac Plus with his letter of recommendation for me. Very awesome.

The 512k is in perfect condition. Pin 1 on the logic board port of the analog board needed to be resoldered. It came with an external 400k floppy drive. Both drives required a slight tune-up and are now running perfect.

The Mac Plus is one of the upgraded 128/512 models, lacking the "Macintosh Plus" text on the front. It has 2MB RAM. The 800k floppy drive required a tune-up as well and is now fixed. Unfortunately the Plus has some caps with shrunken labels on the analog board. Symptoms are almost completely washed out image and some flyback whining. I'll order some new caps and see what happens. Otherwise, it boots properly.

Both came with 128/512 keyboard & mouse, one extra parts keyboard (several broken keys), 1 ADB keyboard, ADB trackball, etc. One mouse is beige with missing thumbscrews (used to be the small ones), the other is a platinum AppleMouse IIe. I'll say that these are some of the best Macs in my collection, alongside my IIfx, Quadra 700, and Mac TV. I'll definitely be hanging on to them!
