Two days ago I started to print a document on my restored
Apple Color StyleWriter 1500.
During printing suddenly the message "Carriage Assembly blocked" occurs.
(German: "Bitte überprüfen Sie, ob der Schreibwagen blockiert ist, .... ).
So I opened the front cover and moved the Carriage Unit sometimes to
the left limit and right limit. I could identify no mechanical limitations.
So I switched the printer to OFF state.
After pressing the Power On button the Carriage Unit now is moved
to the center of the printer.
Then I removed all covers and measured the voltage at pin 29 of connector CNH.
When moving the Carriage Unit to the right most position I measured 4.85V.
But when moving the Carriage Unit to the center of the printer there was no
change of the voltage.
After doing this I disconnected the ribbon cable from connector CNH and
removed the complete Carriage Unit according to the procedure as described
in the Service Manual.
I found that the part of the ribbon cable going to the Home Position Sensor
was broken (see picture). I could not find the Home Position Sensor with the
broken rest of the ribbon cable inside the printer.
Does anybody know where I can buy a new ribbon cable or alternatively a new
Carriage Unit ?
Does anybody know what type of sensor the Home Position Sensor is and how
it works.
