Color Classic noisy display

Don't say that! The CC just happens to be one of the less friendly models to work with. Literally anything 1990-1991ish and down would be easier to work with. And minus the Classics.

If you want something easier to work on/a bit more robust, go for a Quadra 700, 650 or 950. Performa 630 also a good 68k Mac that is fairly trouble free.

The board was recapped and ultrasonic cleaned by a talented gentleman. It's now running flawlessly, with no noise from the speaker. I think it was indeed cap goo near the sound chip that was causing the issue!

The Color Classic II logic board is a worthy upgrade for any Color Classic.

I'm glad to hear a recap/clean sorted it, it usually does. The sound circuit is fairly simple on thes boards and the sound chip is often affected by cap goo.
