Color Classic Mystic Question

Can I use a Performa 578 logic board for the mystic upgrade? Every article refers to LC575 but the technical specs look the same to me. Is there a difference or functional limitation to using a 578 board?

I sort of recall the 578 is just another name of the 575 series with more ram factory installed so yes.
the 580 OTOH is basically a 630 based LB…. So no joy.

I just got a Color Classic Mystic from ebay. When I power it on the monitor takes forever to turn on. Might that be caused by a missing system clock battery? This behavior only happens when the machine is off and then powered on. If I reboot I encounter no issues.

I'm suspecting that something gets loaded somewhere and stored in a place normally kept alive by the battery once the monitor is properly recognized, but since they're is currently no battery installed those values get lost when a shut down occurs.

Nope, sounds more like a hardware issue. Are all circuit boards recapped and solder joints on the analog board checked for cracks?

It's not the battery, almost certainly.

Do you have a ludicrous amount of RAM in it that could be slowing down the RAM test?

Then that is probably your problem.

As long as it's just a long pause checking ludicrous amounts of ram, I should be able to live with that

You could always replace the ROM with one that skips the RAM check....
