Color Classic II!

As promised, here are pics of the restored CC II! I wanted to use JDW's retrobrite technique, but I have a one year old son and didn't think I could spend a whole day tending to it. I ended up trying a method I saw on an Amiga board - I filled a large tub with hot water, added half a bottle of OxyClean, and just let everything sit in the sun for a few hours. The results blew me away!

Enjoy!

Wow that looks absolutely fantastic!

A bit of a shame the Quicktime sticker didn't survive though, but it doesn't look "odd" that it's not there either.

So... You filled up a bucket/tub big enough to submerse the entire case in, with 1/2 a bottle of OxyClean then you just leave that outside in daylight? Is that right?

Seems quite easy! I'd love to get my seriously yellowed SE Superdrive looking like new again... Are there risks of damaging the case? Did it effect the text on the badge or anything?

I thought it sounded too easy myself! I rotated the case parts every hour or so, but other than that I sort of winged it. I think it helped that I cleaned it almost obsessively and submerged it in 75 degrees celsius water beforehand, I think it "opens up" the plastic a bit. No effect in the lettering at all. Make sure you take off your apple logo!

Just added a 68882 today, and my Artmix SCSI-CF unit should arrive any day. 36MB RAM, now all I need is a VRAM Upgrade. Anyone?
