Classic II case screws

So, I'm trying to get into my Classic II to install some RAM. I have a T-15 driver that will reach the silver screws under the handle. I can take a flashlight, shine it into the hole and see that the screw is turning. Problem is, the screw doesn't seem to be coming out, it's just spinning in place.

Am I just missing something simple here? The same driver removed the black screws from the bottom of the computer, no problem. I have turned and turned and turned the top screws and they never come out. What can I do?

Sounds like either the thread is all chewed up in the hole on the front panel, or else the screws are out, its just friction on the back panel stopping them falling out. To tell the difference, tighten them up again (clockwise) and see if they do come to a stop.

In both cases the solution is to gently attempt to prise the back off the front. The back has very little weight and the monitor is attached to the front panel, so put the screen downwards on a pillow and use a flat bladed implement to try and increase the gap between the casing halves.
